Located at Formal Gardens, Clem Jones Promenade near South Bank 3 Ferry Terminal this 1,500 square metre area is home to a variety of fragrant plants, seasonal fruits and vegetables, and edible flowers. Its friendly staff and 14 volunteer gardeners ensure that the gardens are kept to a high standard. In addition to the garden’s beautiful plants, you can also try some of the fruits and vegetables on offer. The Epicurious Garden is a great way to get ideas on what to grow in your own backyard. It has thirty beds and over 400 herb pots, and is open to all. The planting scheme was chosen by the team of chefs and foodies to showcase the best of subtropical gardening. The trellises are made of recycled timber and have glossy spherical head rests. A harvest cart is located in the middle of the property, and volunteers pick the produce.
The Epicurious Garden is an edible demonstration garden in Southbank Parklands. The aim of the project was to show the community that they can grow their own produce. Each plant variety is carefully chosen based on its ability to survive in the high temperatures of Queensland. The community edible garden was designed by a team of food-loving experts to showcase how a home garden can produce fresh and healthy produce. The plots are planted in a variety of seasonal edible plants, and the project was a collaboration with local companies to create a beautiful space. The garden includes herbs, kale, broccoli, Asian greens, celery, and more. Besides the food that tastes great, the community’s members also share the fruits and vegetables with their community.

A large custom sign was installed in July 2014 and acts as a climbing screen. Lord Mayor Graham Quirk opened the garden in August of 2014. The gardens are continually evolving. The volunteers work to keep the gardens maintained.
